Passes Surfboards

I grew up in San Clemente, CA and learned from some of the best I could convince to trade some knowledge for a shop sweep-up. San Clemente has a huge variety of waves on offer almost every day of the year, so I’ve been inspired to shape a wide range of boards to take advantage of every spot in town and beyond the city limits. Being apart of others surfing experience is an honor or and every order is treated as such! 100% handshaped and surfer-made. When in San Clemente, I go to Loner Surf Club for glass work. I believe they do the most outstanding work in town and they are great friends. Thank you for supporting our local surf industry by choosing handcrafted surfboards, whether from me or another board builder that truly loves their craft.
Lore: This whole project started in 2016 with me and my two best friends. We wanted to try “weird” boards that weren’t quite widely accessible to kids with part time surf-shop jobs. All three of us were fairly crafty so we figured we might as well give it a go ourselves! I didn’t even want to finish my first board. I kept screening the rails until there was almost nothing left. I rode my own creations in surf PE and someone eventually took interest and asked if I could shape them a board. I never really thought about that possibility, but I thought to myself why not? I think I charged less than it actually cost me to make the board. It snowballed from there. Then requests from friends, friends of friends, and eventually strangers (new friends!) slowly but steadily just kept coming in. Before shaping I surfed all the time, but when I started making and riding my own boards is when I truly felt a sustainable obsession with surfing. San Clemente’s hyper-competitive surf scene started to melt away as I could focus on improving my connection to the sensations that I was trying to achieve through my own boards. My surfing improved as I started to surf wildly different boards. From finless craft to gliders, every board teaches a lesson and furthers my understanding of how water moves beneath our feet. This was all a new thrill for me and continues to inspire me, especially when exploring new waves and surfing with friends. Thank you for being apart of my surfboard making journey, I am continually honored by being able to be involved in your surfing experience and the support given from others in the surf community
